When does your Cursor quota reset?

It depends on which Cursor you have. On October 12, 2026, Cursor launched The X Subscription — one bundle covering Grok, Cursor and X — and closed the old plans to new sign-ups. The two systems now run side by side on different clocks: legacy plans reset monthly on your signup anniversary, while the new plans draw from a shared pool that refreshes weekly. This page covers both — and is honest about the reset details Cursor has not published.

The short answer: two plan systems coexist. Legacy plans (existing subscribers) reset monthly, on the date you subscribed — not on the 1st. The X Subscription (new customers) refreshes weekly, on a schedule Cursor does not publish — your exact next reset date is shown in your own dashboard. Unused included usage never rolls over on either system.

01 — TWO SYSTEMSFirst, find out which Cursor you are on

Every reset question about Cursor has two different answers right now, because the plan you hold decides the clock you live on. The panels below separate the systems; the sections after them go into each one in full.

System A · existing subscribers

Legacy plans

Hobby, Pro, Pro+, Ultra and legacy Teams. Closed to new sign-ups since October 12, 2026, but fully valid for current subscribers — who can still move between legacy tiers.

  • Reset: monthly, on your signup anniversary
  • Pools: Cursor Models + Other Models, resetting together
  • Check usage: Cursor dashboard → Spending tab
System B · new customers

The X Subscription

Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra — the only plans new customers can buy since October 12, 2026. One bundle for Grok + Cursor + X, billed and managed through grok.com.

  • Reset: weekly pool refresh, separate from billing
  • Pool: one shared pool across Cursor, Grok Bot and the Grok apps
  • Check usage: grok.com/dashboard → Usage

Switching is optional — and permanent. Legacy subscribers are not forced onto The X Subscription, and Cursor says legacy plans keep working. But if you do switch, you cannot switch back, and a new billing cycle starts on the day you make the move.

02 — LEGACY PLANSMonthly reset, anchored to your signup date

On a legacy plan, your cycle starts on the date you subscribe and renews monthly (or yearly, for billing) from there. Cursor's own words: “Individual plans renew on your signup date” and “included usage resets monthly with your billing cycle.” Both usage pools — Cursor Models and Other Models — reset together on that date.

HobbyFreeLimited Agent, Chat and Tab usage; no Cloud Agents, Bugbot or OriginMonthly cycle from signup date
Pro$20/moCursor Models pool, plus $20/mo of Other Models (third-party) usageMonthly, on signup anniversary

Teams Standard$40/user/moStandard per-member allowance across both poolsAll members reset together on the team billing cycle
Teams Premium$120/user/mo5× the Teams Standard allowanceAll members reset together on the team billing cycle
  • Not the calendar month: subscribe on the 14th and your usage resets on the 14th of every month. Cursor staff confirm the reset lands “on the day your subscription payment is charged.”
  • Annual billing, monthly usage: even on a yearly subscription, the usage cycle is monthly — your allowance refreshes every month on your signup date.
  • The exact hour is not published: Cursor documents the reset day (your billing-cycle start) but no time of day or time zone. Your dashboard shows your reset date; no official source states the moment within that day.
  • Metered by cost, not requests: included usage is charged per request at model × token cost. The old 500-fast-request bundles and flat-rate Auto pricing were replaced by this usage-based system; grandfathered request-based plans still exist.
  • No rollover: unused included usage expires at the reset — Cursor states this applies to both kinds of plan.

03 — THE X SUBSCRIPTIONA shared weekly pool across Grok, Cursor and X

The X Subscription replaced the old plan ladder for new customers on October 12, 2026. Instead of a monthly allowance, every tier draws from an included pool that refreshes weekly — and the same pool is shared across Cursor, Grok Bot and the Grok apps, so heavy use in one product drains the others.

  • The exact refresh moment is not published: Cursor says the pool “refreshes weekly” but gives no weekday, time or time zone. The documentation defers to your account: “The next reset date is shown under Usage at grok.com/dashboard.” That is why this page has no countdown for it — there is no honest universal time to count down to.
  • The pool's absolute size is not published either: only the 4× / 15× / 50× multiples of the Plus base are documented. No token count, no dollar figure.
  • Third-party models left the pool: Claude, GPT and Gemini are no longer included usage. On Premium and above they bill at API list price from prepaid credit, from the first request; Plus has no third-party access at all.
  • Prepaid credit is not usage: top-ups replaced on-demand billing. Credit does not reset — each top-up stays available until used or until it expires, currently 365 days after purchase. Plan changes, top-ups and invoices live at grok.com/dashboard/billing.
  • No rollover: whatever is left in the weekly pool when it refreshes is gone — the same no-rollover rule as the legacy plans.

04 — YOUR NUMBERSWhere to check your own usage & reset date

Your reset date is personal — it follows your signup date (legacy) or your account's weekly schedule (X Subscription) — so your own dashboard is the only authoritative source. Where you look depends on your system:

Legacy plans — Cursor dashboard

cursor.com/dashboard → Spending

The Spending tab shows real-time usage for both pools (Cursor Models and Other Models), your remaining allowance, any on-demand charges — and your reset date. The editor's settings show remaining usage too.

Open the Cursor dashboard ↗ Billing ↗ Spending & limits ↗

The X Subscription — grok.com

grok.com/dashboard → Usage

Usage shows how much of your shared weekly pool you have used, your next reset date, and your prepaid credit balance. Billing for the bundle — plan changes, top-ups, invoices — is managed on grok.com as well.

Not sure which system you're on?

cursor.com/help → Pricing

If you subscribed before October 12, 2026 and never switched, you are on a legacy plan with a monthly reset. If you bought Cursor after that date — or chose to switch — you are on The X Subscription with a weekly pool. Cursor's pricing help pages describe both systems side by side.

05 — FAQCursor reset questions, answered straight

When does my Cursor usage reset?

It depends which plan system you are on. On a legacy plan (Hobby, Pro, Pro+, Ultra, legacy Teams), your included usage resets monthly on your signup anniversary — the day your subscription payment is charged. On The X Subscription (the plans sold since October 12, 2026), your included pool refreshes weekly. The two systems run on different clocks, so check which one you hold before anything else.

Does Cursor reset on the 1st of the month?

No — not on legacy plans. Your cycle starts on the date you subscribed and renews on that same date each month. Subscribe on the 14th and your usage resets on the 14th, not on the 1st. Cursor states this directly: individual plans renew on your signup date.

What time of day does the legacy Cursor reset happen?

Cursor does not publish an exact time of day or time zone for the monthly reset. Officially, included usage resets at the start of each billing cycle, on the day your subscription payment is charged. Your dashboard's Spending tab shows your exact reset date; no official source states the hour.

When exactly does The X Subscription pool refresh each week?

Cursor's documentation says the included pool refreshes weekly and is separate from your billing cycle, but it does not publish the exact weekday, time, or time zone. The docs point you to your own next reset date, shown under Usage at grok.com/dashboard. Any site quoting a specific weekly reset hour for The X Subscription is guessing.

Does unused Cursor usage roll over?

No. Cursor states it plainly: “Unused included usage does not roll over on either kind of plan.” Weekly and monthly pools expire at reset. Prepaid credit on The X Subscription is different — it is not usage, it does not reset, and each top-up stays available until used or until it expires, currently 365 days after purchase.

I pay annually — does my Cursor usage reset once a year?

No. Even on annual subscriptions, usage cycles are monthly on legacy plans: your included usage refreshes every month on your signup date, even though you are billed once a year. On The X Subscription the pool refreshes weekly regardless of whether you pay monthly or annually.

Can I still sign up for the old Cursor Pro plan?

No. Since The X Subscription launched on October 12, 2026, new customers can only buy the new plans. Legacy plans — Hobby, Pro, Pro+, Ultra and legacy Teams — remain valid for existing subscribers, who can still upgrade or downgrade among the legacy tiers. Switching to The X Subscription is optional, but it is permanent.

Are Claude, GPT and Gemini models included in The X Subscription pool?

No. The shared weekly pool covers Cursor models (including Grok models and Composer). Third-party models such as Claude, GPT and Gemini were removed from included usage: on Premium and above they are billed at API list price, paid from prepaid credit, from the first request. The Plus tier has no third-party model access at all.

How big is the Plus weekly pool on The X Subscription?

Cursor does not publish the absolute size of the base pool — no token count and no dollar figure. The official documentation only gives multiples: Premium is 4× Plus, Super is 15× Plus, and Ultra is 50× Plus. Your dashboard shows how much of your pool you have used.

Where can I see my next Cursor reset date?

On a legacy plan, open the Spending tab in the Cursor dashboard — it shows real-time usage for both pools, your remaining allowance, and your reset date. On The X Subscription, open Usage at grok.com/dashboard — it shows your weekly pool usage, your next reset date, and your prepaid credit balance.
